Since mid-August Professor Michał Paweł Markowski has been running the newly created Stefan and Lucy Hejna Family Chair in Polish Language and Literature at the University of Illinois in Chicago (UIC).

 Celebrated and controversial writer Dorota Maslowska will appear at the Brooklyn Book Festival on September 12, 2010. After appearing at the Brooklyn Book Festival, Maslowska will be in residence at Ledig House, a writers' colony situated in the Hudson River Valley.

 With this residency, the Polish Cultural Institute revives a long tradition of participation of Polish authors in the prestigious International Writing Program at the University of Iowa. As a part of his residency at the University of Iowa, Biedrzycki will participate in readings and panels with other International Writing Program writers.

 Michał Witkowski will be meeting his readers on August 24th Dublin, where he will be promoting his novel "Lovetown," published by Portobello Books and translated by William Martin. The meeting will take place at the EU House at Dawson Street 18 D2. The organizers are calling it: “Poland's answer to Almodovar.”

 The Institute of Polish Culture announces meetings with Olga Tokarczuk, Michał Witkowski, Matthew Kelly and Michał and Joanna Rusinek, which will take place during the Edinburgh International Book Festival (August 14th-30th 2010). The Edinburgh International Book Festival hosts the most recognized and renowned writers, poets, thinkers, photographers and artists from all over the world to debate, discuss and search for inspiration.
