Witold GombrowiczA Bestiary “Nature. I don’t want nature, to me people are nature”. After a confession like that, a bestiary by Gombrowicz seems an unlikely event, all the more so as in all his many interpretations of his own texts he never once mentions animals. However, if you read his works closely you will find a remarkable collection of animals, about 140 of them in all. The quantity and variety is amazing, but also intriguing. For people who like bestiaries and Gombrowicz readers, both beginners and advanced, this little book points to a previously unnoticed, rich and highly significant seam in his work, “the animals and I”.
