Writing about the fate of Jews during the last war, Ida Fink does not choose a vision of martyrdom but a silenced, exact account devoid of pathos. The works contained in the volume are traces of the life of the individuals murdered during the Holocaust. The author says of her strategy: It has to be a whisper.
