M.L. Kossakowska and J. Grzędowicz win the Zajdel Award

Maja Lidia Kossakowska and Jarosław Grzędowicz were named this year's winners of the Janusz A. Zajdel Award. Finalists for the Nike Literary Award 2007

From the twenty titles nominated for the Nike literary award, the jury has selected seven to compete in the finals for the awards - the organisers of the award revealed on Monday, 3 September. This year three novels, two collections of poems, a volume of essays and a book of reportage will compete for the prize.

International Book Fair in Moscow

This year Poland will appear for the sixth time at the September International Book Fair in Moscow (5-10 September). Our thirty-metre booth will feature a selection of the past year's most interesting new literary publications, as well as books financed by the ©POLAND Translation Programme. Polish books will also be available to be purchased at the Book Institute bookshop, organised on commission.

Krzysztof Czyżewski, cultural organiser, writer and editor, director of the Pogranicze Foundation and the "Pogranicze – Arts, Cultures, Nations" Centre in Sejny, took the New Culture of a New Europe Award on Wednesday, 5 September, during the 17th Economics Forum in Krynica.

Poland at the Publishers' Forum in Lviv

The Book Institute will be organising the Polish booth at the Publishers' Forum in Lviv for the fourth time. This is the most important book fair in Ukraine, and this year it will be taking place from 13-16 September. The information booth of 12 m2 will feature a selection of the new publications from the year 2007, an exhibition presenting the output of the ©POLAND Translation Programme, as well as a bookshop (prepared by Ars Polonia on the Book Institute's commission), where visitors to the fair will be able to purchase Polish books.
