The Bok Institute is the organizer of the Polish booth at the 68th International Book Fair in Frankfurt. The Frankfurter Buchmesse is the world’s most important publishing event. This year, 7,100 exhibitors from 100 countries will be participating. The guests of honor will be Holland and Flanders.
The Polish national booth (Hall 5.0 B99) will present forty-four exhibitors, including the most important publishers of Polish literature: Wydawnictwo Literackie Publishers, Znak, The Foksal Publishing Group, Dwie Siostry Publishers, Nasza Księgarnia, and Media Rodzina.
Apart from the new publications of 2016, we will be highlighting books nominated for the most important Polish literary awards: The NIKE Literary Award, The Polityka Passport, The GDYNIA Literary Award, and the Kościelski Prize. Moreover, a special exhibition will feature the most interesting Polish books for children and young people, and the fruits of the ©POLAND Translation Program. Visitors to the Polish booth will receive the NEW BOOKS FROM POLAND catalogue, presenting the critics’ choices of the most noteworthy new releases of recent months. The Book Institute has also published an updated version of their POLISH BOOK MARKET guide.
On 23 October – as per fair tradition – the St. Paul’s Church in Frankfurt will host the ceremony for the most prestigious publishers’ award in Germany: The Peace Prize of the German Book Trade. This award of 25,000 Euro has been presented since 1950. This year’s winner is German journalist and reporter Carolin Emcke.
