Joanna Kuciel-Frydryszak and Szymon Opryszek in Spain
Joanna Kuciel-Frydryszak, author of ‘Chłopki,’ one of the biggest bestsellers in Poland in recent years, will visit four cities and participate in five events:
- November 3 – Author meeting in Salamanca, Letras Corsarias bookstore, 7:00 PM, moderated by Spanish writer María Sánchez, author of the book ‘Tierra de mujeres’ (Land of Women).
- November 4 – Author meeting in Segovia, Intempestivos bookstore, 7:00 PM, moderated by Rosa Arranz, Chairwoman of the Association of Agricultural Women.
- November 5 – Meeting at the National Library (Biblioteca Nacional de España) in Madrid, 6:30 PM, moderated by translator Teresa Benítez.
- November 6 – Meeting with immigrant rural women from the Vallecas district in Madrid, Biblioteca Miguel Hernández, 4:00 PM, moderated by María Adoración Martinez Aranda.
- November 9 – Opening of the illustration exhibition for the Spanish edition of ‘Chłopki,’ Taller la Madriguera in Barcelona, 12:00 PM.
Szymon Opryszek will participate in four meetings:
- November 10 – Meeting at the Gabriel García Márquez Library in Barcelona.
- November 11 – Meeting at Alberti Bookstore in Madrid.
- November 13 – Meeting at Picasso Bookstore in Granada.
- November 14 – Meeting at Proteo-Prometeo Bookstore in Malaga.
The releases of both books were supported by the Book Institute as part of the Translators’ Program ©Poland. Szymon Opryszek’s report ‘Woda. Historia pewnego porwania’ (Water. The Story of a Kidnapping) was published by Itineraria in a translation by Katarzyna Górska, while ‘Chłopki’ (Women Peasants) by Joanna Kuciel-Frydryszak was published by Temporal in a translation by Teresa Benítez.
