Anders Bodegård Scholarship
About the programme
The Anders Bodegård Scholarship, named after the distinguished translator of Polish and French literature into Swedish, is intended for a translator specializing in the translation of Polish literature into Swedish or French. As part of the scholarship program, the benefactor will provide a monthly stay for one selected individual at the College of Translators in Kraków or Warsaw.
The scholarship has been awarded since 2025, with its first laureate being Maryla Laurent, a translator of Polish literature into French. Applications for 2026 are currently open, and submissions can be sent until October 19 to the address: collegium@instytutksiazki.pl. The application form can be found HERE.

Anders Bodegård (1944-2024) was a Swedish Slavist and translator of Polish and French literature into Swedish. He translated and popularized works by Polish authors in Scandinavia, including Witold Gombrowicz, Ryszard Kapuściński, Ewa Lipska, Zbigniew Herbert, Paweł Huelle, Antoni Libera, Father Józef Tischner, Adam Zagajewski, and Wisława Szymborska. He was the recipient of the Transatlantyk Award in 2006.
