On March 16–17, a scholarly conference titled ‘Poétiques et figures de la liberté et de l’existence dans les lettres, les arts et la pensée polonaise (XIXᵉ–XXIᵉ s.)’ is taking place in Paris at the INALCO, Institut national des langues et civilisations orientales.

The conference is organized as part of the Centre de Recherches Europe-Eurasie (CREE) project at INALCO, based on the research concept developed by Prof. Piotr Biłos, ‘Formes, expériences et quête de liberté: la littérature, les arts et la pensée polonaise dans un contexte global’ (Forms, experiences and the quest for freedom: Polish literature in a global perspective). The conference aims to become an impulse for the development and constructive transformation of the perception of Polish culture in France.

The meeting at the INALCO auditorium is interdisciplinary and brings together researchers from Poland, France and other countries, representing literary studies, history, philosophy, cultural studies and art history. Its goal is to rethink the place of Polish culture in a global horizon, as well as contemporary forms of its transmission, reception and dialogue with other intellectual and artistic traditions.

The conference is held under the patronage of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland and the Embassy of France.
