The Book Institute at the Guadalajara International Book Fair

Tomorrow, on November 29, will begin the largest book fair in the world after the Frankfurter Buchmesse, the Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara. The Book Institute has prepared a Polish programme in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Mexico.

The Book Institute will be present at the 39th edition of the fair, as in previous years, in the Rights Zone, where industry meetings will take place. Additionally, at our invitation, illustrator Agata Dudek will participate in the event. Her book Butelka taty was recently published by Cayuco Publishing House (translated by Karolina Jaszecka) with the support of the Book Institute as part of the ©Poland Translation Programme.

Agata Dudek will conduct two workshops for children. The first will take place on November 29 at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Mexico City, attended by children from the Polish school at the Embassy. The second workshop is scheduled for November 30 in the Children’s Pavilion at the Guadalajara International Book Fair (12:00 PM). On the same day, the illustrator will participate in a meeting at the Strega bookstore in Guadalajara (5:00 PM), where she will promote not only Butelka taty but also Ogień and Wiatr (both translated by Karolina Jaszecka), two works by Anna Skowrońska with illustrations by Agata Dudek, published by the Spanish publisher Juventud, which are also distributed in Mexico.

On Monday, December 1, Agata Dudek will sign books at the Juventud publishing booth (3:00 PM – 4:00 PM), followed by a meeting at the Alboroto booth combined with another signing session (5:00 PM – 7:00 PM). The illustrator’s stay at the fair will conclude with a discussion on Tuesday in the European Pavilion (6:30 PM).

The Guadalajara International Book Fair will end on December 7. The guest of honor for this year’s edition is Barcelona.
