‘The Books of Jacob’ by Olga Tokarczuk in Bulgarian and Other Translations

Translation

Among the new translations recently published abroad, special attention should be paid to the Bulgarian translation of Olga Tokarczuk’s ‘The Books of Jacob,’ translated by Krum Krumov and published by ICU.

Recently, with the support of the ©Poland Translation Programme, translations of the following works have also been released:

Publishing Proposals – Open Call in 2026

The Publishing Proposals Program is aimed at Polish publishers and agents who wish to present Polish publishing proposals abroad. Under this program, the Book Institute finances up to 15 pages of a publishing presentation in a foreign language. A minimum of 2/3 of the total must consist of a sample translation of the book into a foreign language.

Premiere of the Two-Volume Edition of ‘Complete Poems’ by Wisława Szymborska in Taipei

Recently, the edition of ‘Complete Poems’ by Wisława Szymborska was published in Taiwan, translated into traditional Chinese by Wei-Yun Lin-Górecka. The premiere took place on Saturday, December 20, in Taipei.

Over 90 Supported Publications: Summary of the First Year of the “Other Traditions” Programme

In May 2025, the Book Institute launched the 'Other Traditions' programme. The goal of this initiative directed at publishers is to support valuable publications that are difficult to release under strictly market conditions. In the first, incomplete year of the program, we funded 91 publications totaling PLN 1,592,818. So far, 42 publishers have benefited from it, and the total print run of the supported publications reached 96,690 copies.

Agata Dudek at the Guadalajara International Book Fair

Last Sunday, December 7, the largest book fair in the world after the Frankfurt Book Fair concluded — the Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara. The Book Institute prepared the Polish program in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Mexico.

Two translations of Olga Tokarczuk’s books in Macedonia and other translations

Thanks to the ©Poland Translation Programme, several new translations of Polish books have recently been published abroad. Notably, two translations by Olga Tokarczuk – the essay ‘Czuły narrator’ and the novel ‘Empuzjon’ – were released by the Macedonian publisher Antolog, translated by Lidija Tanushevska.
