Poland at the Leipzig Book Fair 2026

The Book Institute has selected additional publications to receive funding from the Other Traditions programme. Out of 61 proposals submitted by publishers between February 11, 2026, and March 10, 2026, 35 were accepted. Support totaling over PLN 580,000 will be awarded to 22 publishers in total.

As part of the seventh edition of the Bliżej Polski (Closer to Poland) programme in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, on Wednesday, March 11, the “Academia Coffee” of the Centre for Polish Language and Culture at the Faculty of Philosophy of Matej Bel University organized an event in cooperation with the Book Institute and the Polish Institute in Bratislava. These institutions once again promoted Polish reportage to the local audience. The guest of the event was Joanna Czeczott, a Polish reporter and political scientist.

The latest publications from the Book Institute publishing house have been released. Readers can now get their hands on fascinating books about contemporary literature. We present them below.

In 2026, some new translations of Polish books were published abroad, including the Croatian translation of Leo Lipski's Piotruś, the Italian translation of Szczepan Twardoch’s novel Null, and a selection of poems by Wojciech Bonowicz in English.

On March 10 one of the most important book fairs in the publishing world, London Book Fair, opened. The Book Institute, as every year, was organising the Polish stand to enable domestic publishers and literary agencies to make business contacts and sell rights.

The competitive rounds of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage’s programmes, administered by the Book Institute, are over. For the programmes “Magazines,” “Literature,” “Partnership for the Book,” and “Promotion of Reading,” 2,090 applications were submitted, of which 469 received funding totaling PLN 19,252,695.
