French translation of “Daj gryza” by the Mizielińscy and Baranowska
The book, whose French title reads Cuisines du monde. Un inventaire savoureux de l’histoire, de la culture, des produits et des traditions culinaires was published by the prestigious Gallimard Jeunesse publishing house.
In Take a Bite, the Mizielinski couple, together with Natalia Baranowska, take their readers on a great journey around the world – tracing dishes, spices, culinary specialities, and food-related customs. This journey covers twenty-six countries located on five continents, with a myriad of interesting facts, recipes, and flavours. Featuring beautiful illustrations by the Mizielinskis, the book is aimed at younger readers, but older readers will undoubtedly also find plenty of new information in it.
Aleksandra and Daniel Mizielinski are among the most acclaimed Polish authors of children’s books. Both are graduates of the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts and winners of numerous awards and prizes, including the prestigious international BolognaRagazzi Award 2010 for the book Co z ciebie wyrośnie? (“What Will Become of You?”) and the French Prix Sorcières 2013 and the Italian Premio Andersen 2013 for Mapy (“Maps”). Their books have so far been translated into more than 40 languages and have seen more than 200 editions.
Natalia Baranowska is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw who has worked as a designer of books, identification, and board games.
In recent months, the Book Institute has also supported editions of Take a Bite in Brazil and Taiwan, that is, in Portuguese and Traditional Chinese.
