Henryk Sienkiewicz’s novellas in Turkish
The three Sienkiewicz novellas mentioned above were published in Turkey under the title Kahraman Bartek (“Bart the Conqueror”) by the Fihrist Kitap publishing house.
Bartek Zwycięzca (“Bart the Conqueror”), Szkice węglem (“Charcoal Sketches”), and Latarnik (“The Lighthouse Keeper”) are among Henryk Sienkiewicz’s best-known novellas and, at the same time, among the Polish canon of short prose forms. Sienkiewicz’s novellas meet the criteria of positivist novellas and deal with themes such as the lives of simple people, emigration, and patriotism. Their Turkish edition can also introduce the local readers to selected themes from Polish history.
Fihrist Kitap Publishing House has already published works by such literary classics as George Orwell, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Friedrich Schiller, and Władysław Reymont, among others, on the Turkish market.
