Results for the Other Traditions programme in September

Recently, a number of translations have been published abroad, supported by the Book Institute as part of the ©Poland Translation Programme. Notably, the translation of the award-winning Nike Literary Prize novel 'Ten się śmieje, kto ma zęby' by Zyta Rudzka, brought closer to German-speaking readers by the esteemed translator Lisa Palmes, deserves special attention. The translation was published by Matthes & Seitz Berlin.

This year, we premiered our 200 square meter booth designed by the Architectural and Jewelry Workshop Brokat from Katowice.

On Wednesday, October 15, the 77th Frankfurt Book Fair — the most important publishing industry event in the world — opens in Frankfurt am Main. Poland will be present at the Fair for the 25th time — it was exactly a quarter of a century ago that the history of the Polish Book Institute began, which has once again prepared the Polish national stand this year.

The results apply to publishing proposals submitted by 30 June 2025. In accordance with the regulations, priority was given to Romance and Scandinavian languages ​​in the second call for proposals. We invite you to apply to participate in the Polish collective booth organized by the Book Institute at the Bologna International Book Fair, which will take place from April 13-16, 2026.

The Book Institute has selected additional publications to receive funding from the Other Traditions programme. Of the 47 proposals submitted by publishers in August, 25 were accepted. A total of sixteen publishers will receive funding totaling over PLN 520,000.
