Poland at the Cairo International Book Fair

For the first time in history, our country is being showcased at the Cairo International Book Fair. The Egyptian event is one of the most important fairs in the Arab world.

The Polish Embassy in Cairo, in collaboration with the Book Institute, organized a Polish stand where translations of Polish literature into Arabic and English, as well as Polish children’s books, are presented. Visitors can also download the “New Books from Poland” catalog and informational materials.

Polish touches in the programme were provided by the presentations of Dr. George Yacoub, a translator of Polish literature, who spoke to Egyptian readers about Polish literature and its translations into Arabic, and participated in panels on literary translations.

Organizers report that this year’s edition is record-breaking: it attracted over 6,600 exhibitors from 83 countries, including nearly 1,500 publishers and over 1,500 intellectuals and authors participating in the programme.

The guest of honor is Romania. The fair started on January 21 and will run until February 3.

Szymborska, Dukaj, Tokarczuk – new translations of Polish books

At the end of 2025, new translations of Polish books were published abroad, including a Taiwanese edition of Wisława Szymborska's 'Wiersze wszystkie', 'Inne pieśni' by Jacek Dukaj in Czech, and 'Prawiek i inne czasy' by Olga Tokarczuk in Thai.

Applications are open for the Mały Koneser Warsaw Fellowship for Children’s Publishers

This three-day series of meetings for publishers from Poland and abroad is organized by the Wytwórnia publishing house in collaboration with the Book Institute and is part of the Mały Koneser Festival and Children’s Book Publishers Fair.

Poland as the Guest of Honour at the International Bologna Children’s Book Fair in 2027. Competition for the curatorial concept of an exhibition showcasing Polish children’s books and illustrations

We invite curators to participate in the competition to develop a comprehensive concept and oversee the curation of an exhibition presenting Polish children's literature and illustrations. The exhibition will be realized during the Bologna Children's Book Fair in 2027 as part of Poland's presence as the guest of honour.

Publishing Proposals – Open Call in 2026

The Publishing Proposals Program is aimed at Polish publishers and agents who wish to present Polish publishing proposals abroad. Under this program, the Book Institute finances up to 15 pages of a publishing presentation in a foreign language. A minimum of 2/3 of the total must consist of a sample translation of the book into a foreign language.

Anthology of Halina Poświatowska’s Poems in Spanish and Other Translations of Polish Books

Thanks to the ©Poland Translation Programme, several new translations of Polish books have recently been published abroad. Among them, noteworthy are a series of translations into Slovak, as well as the translation of Halina Poświatowska’s Wiersze wybrane, published by Báltica Editorial and translated by Xavier Farré and José María Faraldo.
