Next Monday the 63rd edition of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair and the accompanying event, Bologna Book Plus, will begin. A total of 44 Polish exhibitors will be presented at the stands organized by the Book Institute during both events.

The Bologna Children’s Book Fair is one of the most important industry events in the world, bringing together publishers, authors, illustrators and professionals from the children’s book sector. The fair is an excellent opportunity for promotion, networking, and the buying and selling of rights. As part of Poland’s presence at the fair, the Book Institute is organizing a collective stand where 39 exhibitors will present their offerings: Agora Książka i Muzyka, Albus Wydawnictwo, Banana Panda, Blask, Bumcykcyk, Czytaj Dzieciom, Czytalisek, Druganoga, DTagency, Dwie Siostry, Emi i Tajny Klub Super Dziewczyn, Foksal, Glossa, Kici Nici, Kropka, Literatura, Mamania, Bajeczna, Media Rodzina, MMIP, Muchomor, Malwa, Narodowy Instytut Fryderyka Chopina, Nasza Księgarnia, Natuli, NCK, Poradnia K, Publicat, PWM edition, Skórka Pomarańczy, Skrzat, Studio Koloru, Tabula Rasa, Tatarak, Widnokrąg, Wydawnictwo Kobiece, Wytwórnia, Zielona Sowa, Znak.

At the Book Institute’s stand, titles awarded by the IBBY section as well as selected titles translated with the support of our ©Poland Translation Programme will also be presented.

The Institute also coordinates the presence of Polish representatives of the comics industry in the dedicated Comics Corner.

As every year, the catalogue “Polish Books for Children 2026” will premiere during the fair, allowing foreign publishers to learn about outstanding Polish books for young readers that were published last year. The latest edition of the catalogue can be found here and at the bottom of this page.

Running in parallel with the main event is Bologna Book Plus — the accompanying fair dedicated to the adult book industry. This year the Polish presence is particularly strong. At the stand organized by the Institute five publishers selected in a competition will present their offerings: Czarna Owca, Marginesy, Powergraph, Wydawnictwo Poznańskie and Znak.

At the International Book Fair in Bologna 2026 the Polish representation looks particularly impressive. Representatives of the Book Institute, Polish publishers, authors and illustrators will take part in numerous panels devoted to children’s and adult readership, comics, and legal issues in the context of artificial intelligence. Guests include, among others, distinguished illustrators and authors such as Katarzyna Augustyniak, Julia Bardziejewska, Marta Kopyt, Klaudia Majdowska, Aga Probola, Joanna Bartosik, Agata Dudek, Kasia Walentynowicz, Zosia Dzierżawska, Kasia Minasowicz and Aleksandra Artymowska, as well as leading comic book authors including Przemek Truściński, Jacek Świdziński and Krzysztof Gawronkiewicz. Notably, Rafał Kosik serves this year as the author-ambassador during Bologna Book Plus. The detailed programme can be found at the bottom of this page.

This year’s edition is also a prelude to next year’s events. On Wednesday, April 15, Poland’s role as guest of honour at Bologna Book Plus and the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in 2027 will be officially announced. The ceremony will be attended by the director of the Book Institute, Grzegorz Jankowicz, and the deputy director of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Olga Brzezińska.

The International Book Fair in Bologna 2026 will run until Thursday, April 16.
