Catalan translation of ‘Grzyby’ by Asia Gwis and Liliana Fabisińska

cover of the edition

Barcelona-based Cossetània Edicions has published a translation of the book Grzyby. Dziwne fakty z życia grzybów, o których nie mieliście pojęcia (“Fungi. Odd Facts about the Life of Fungi that You Had No Idea About”) by Asia Gwis and Liliana Fabisińska. The translation by Iwona-Elżbieta Malecka Caune was supported by the Book Institute as part of the ©POLAND Translation Programme.

The title of the book translated into Catalan reads Bolets i fongs: Un emocionant viatge ple de curiositats.

The richly illustrated book Fungi. Odd Facts about the Life of Fungi that You Had No Idea About, in keeping with its title, introduces young readers to the most important (but also the most peculiar!) facts of fungal life. What exactly are these strange organisms that are neither plants nor animals? How is it possible that these mysterious creatures are found both in forests and in the human digestive tract?  The book by Asia Gwis and Liliana Fabisińska will answer these and many other questions.

Asia Gwis is a highly regarded graphic designer and illustrator. She used to work in the press and now illustrates books for younger readers. She has worked on such titles as W świecie małp (“The World of Monkeys and Apes”), Na ratunek! (“To the Rescue!”, with Anna Bartosik), and Niesamowity wszechświat (“The Unbelievable Universe”, with Karolina Bąkowska).

Liliana Fabisińska is a journalist and writer who is the author of many books – both for children and for adults (mainly romances, thrillers, and crime stories). She started her career in the famous magazine “Na przełaj” and was editor-in-chief of the magazine “Filipinka”. She also wrote theatre plays.
