Grzegorz Musiał in Budapest and Debrecen
The PesText Festival is one of the most colorful cultural and literary events in Budapest, where previous guests have included Piotr Szewc, Witold Szabłowski, Piotr Socha, Joanna Concejo, and Krzysztof Czyżewski. During the meeting on November 7 at the Sandor Petőfi Literary Museum, the author spoke with Borcsa Fiala, the editor-in-chief of WMN, the most influential women’s magazine in Hungary. During the discussion, he talked about the life of Łempicka, a figure he dedicated over 12 years to create his monumental work. The first volume, ‘Én, Tamara,’ was published in Hungarian translation in 2024, and the publication of the translation of the second and final installment is planned for next year.
The following day in Debrecen, Grzegorz Musiał spoke with writer Endre Balogh, the director of the Prae publishing house. Excerpts from the book were read by Klara Varga, a renowned actress of the National Theatre in Debrecen and laureate of the Maria Jászai Award. After the discussion, there was a book signing.
Tamara Łempicka was one of the most important figures in the life of the Polish Institute in Budapest this year. In January 2025, the Polish Institute hosted the premiere of an exhibition featuring reproductions of her works titled ‘Tamara Łempicka: Queen of Art Deco,’ prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland and the Tamara Łempicka Estate. The painter’s exhibition attracted great interest and is currently hosted in Debrecen, where it can be viewed at the Péter Mélius Juhász Library until December 5.
The next stop was Debrecen, where on November 8 an exhibition was opened, which can be viewed until December 5 at the Péter Mélius Juhász Library. Following the opening, there was a presentation of the book ‘Ja, Tamara.’
