Aleksandra Majdzińska in Spain

Aleksandra Majdzińska will take part in three events in Spain to promote the Spanish edition of Szalom bonjour Odessa. The tour, held with the support of the Book Institute, is organized primarily by the Polish Institute in Madrid.

The author will visit three Spanish cities — Getafe, Madrid and Granada. Aleksandra Majdzińska debuted in 2019 with the short story collection Morkut i inne opowiadania. In 2023 she received the Marek Nowakowski Literary Prize for Szalom bonjour Odessa.

On Tuesday, 24 March, Majdzińska will participate in the Festival Internacional de Poesía Nichita Stănescu in Getafe, during which she will speak with the book’s translator, Amelia Serraller Calvo (19:20).

The next day there will be an event at the Antonio Machado bookstore in Madrid (19:30). Amelia Serraller Calvo and Ricardo López Fernández will talk with the author, and the evening will be capped by a performative reading of excerpts from Szalom bonjour Odessa set to music by guitarist Raphael Rogiński.

The third event will take place on 26 March at the Tiempo Perdido bookstore in Granada (19:00). It is co-organized by the Centre for Slavic Cultures at the University of Granada. During the meeting, guests will also be able to watch a short film about Odesa by Aleksandra Majdzińska.

Szalom bonjour Odessa was published last year in Spain by Armaenia Editorial, translated by Amelia Serraller Calvo. The Book Institute supported the edition through the ©Poland Translation Programme.
