Renata Lis in Paris

From April 14 to 16, writer and translator Renata Lis visited Paris, where she met readers at the Polish Bookshop, young adults at Lycée Montaigne, and spoke with students at Université Sorbonne-Nouvelle.

The meetings with Renata Lis were part of the series “Fini, le patriarcocène?” (The End of the Patriarcocene?), devoted to Polish culture, society, and current cultural events. The series was conceived by Dr. Agnieszka Żak. Meetings in this series have been held since 2024.

The first event took place at the Polish Bookshop on April 14. The next day Renata Lis visited Lycée Montaigne, and on April 16 she had the opportunity, at the invitation of Violaine Delteil and Tania Racho, to introduce her work to students of the Department of European and International Studies at Université Sorbonne-Nouvelle.

All events were well attended.

Renata Lis’s trip was co-financed by the Book Institute. The series “Fini, le patriarcocène?” is organized with the support of the Book Institute, the Polish Institute in Paris, and the Polish Bookshop.

Bologna Book Fair 2026 – summary

The 63rd edition of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair and the accompanying Bologna Book Plus has come to an end. Over four days, representatives of the Book Institute, Polish publishers, authors and illustrators took part in numerous panels dedicated to reading among children and adults. The Bologna fair is the world’s most important industry event, bringing together professionals from the children’s book sector.

Poland at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair and Bologna Book Plus

Next Monday the 63rd edition of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair and the accompanying event, Bologna Book Plus, will begin. A total of 44 Polish exhibitors will be presented at the stands organized by the Book Institute during both events.

Kacper Bartczak at the VERSeFest International Poetry Festival in Ottawa

Kacper Bartczak was a guest at VERSeFest, the annual International Poetry Festival in Ottawa, which took place March 24–30. During the festival the poet promoted the volume Unsovereign (translated by Mark Tardi), published in Canada by above/ground press.

The Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation, the Book Institute and the Literarisches Colloquium Berlin have selected the winners of the Albrecht Lempp Scholarship for 2026. They are Ishbel Szatrawska and Rainer Merkel.

Mikołaj Łoziński and Krystyna Dąbrowska at the Ognisko Polskie Literary Festival in London

On March 21 in London, the Ognisko Polskie Literary Festival in London took place. Among the guests were Krystyna Dąbrowska and prose writer Mikołaj Łoziński. The Book Institute supported their participation in the event.
