The ©POLAND Translation Programme

Among the new translations recently published abroad, special attention should be paid to the Bulgarian translation of Olga Tokarczuk's ‘The Books of Jacob,’ translated by Krum Krumov and published by ICU.

Recently, the edition of ‘Complete Poems’ by Wisława Szymborska was published in Taiwan, translated into traditional Chinese by Wei-Yun Lin-Górecka. The premiere took place on Saturday, December 20, in Taipei.

As part of the ©Poland Translation Programme, the Book Institute has recently funded a number of translations. Of particular note is the translation of “Sklepy cynamonowe” into Danish, which was translated by Judyta Preis and Jørgen Herman Monrad and published by the Turbine publishing house.

Of particular note is the anthology of Polish short stories titled 'Animales de razas pequeñas. Antología de narrativa breve polaca', which was released in Spain by La Caja Books, translated by an array of distinguished translators: Marta Słyk, Ernesto Rubio, Teresa Benítez, Xavier Farré, Agata Orzeszek, Abel Murcía, and Katarzyna Mołoniewicz.

Recently, a number of translations have been published abroad, supported by the Book Institute as part of the ©Poland Translation Programme. Notably, the translation of the award-winning Nike Literary Prize novel 'Ten się śmieje, kto ma zęby' by Zyta Rudzka, brought closer to German-speaking readers by the esteemed translator Lisa Palmes, deserves special attention. The translation was published by Matthes & Seitz Berlin.

This year, we premiered our 200 square meter booth designed by the Architectural and Jewelry Workshop Brokat from Katowice.

The results apply to publishing proposals submitted by 30 June 2025. In accordance with the regulations, priority was given to Romance and Scandinavian languages ​​in the second call for proposals. International Translation Day was established by the International Federation of Translators (FIT, Fédération Internationale des Traducteurs) on September 30th, the feast day of St. Jerome, author of the first Latin translation of the Bible and patron saint of all translators.

Numerous translations have recently been published abroad with the support of the Book Institute as part of the ©Poland Translation Programme. Of particular note is the translation of Mikołaj Grynberg's prose work, Confidential, which Sean Gasper Bye has brought to English-speaking readers.

Publishers who received grant funding will be individually notified of their grant amounts in the near future.
