Agata Dudek at the Guadalajara International Book Fair

Last Sunday, December 7, the largest book fair in the world after the Frankfurt Book Fair concluded — the Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara. The Book Institute prepared the Polish program in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Mexico.

The Book Institute was present at the 39th edition of the fair in the Rights Zone, where our representative held meetings with Latin American publishers, introducing them to new books from Poland and the Institute’s programs aimed at foreign publishing houses. At our invitation, illustrator Agata Dudek took part in the event; her book Butelka taty [Daddy’s Bottle] was recently published by Cayuco (trans. Karolina Jaszecka) with the support of the Book Institute under the ©Poland Translation Programme.

Agata Dudek led workshops for children at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Mexico City and in the Children’s Pavilion at the Guadalajara International Book Fair. The book Butelka taty was also presented at the European Pavilion at the fair, and the illustrator signed copies at the Cayuco and Juventud publisher booths (the latter published Anna Skowrońska’s Ogień [Fire] and Wiatr [Wind] with illustrations by Agata Dudek in Spain; both titles are available in Mexico).

Dudek also gave interviews to local media and had many conversations with readers, including the youngest.

The guest of honor at this year’s edition was Barcelona.
